Art History

In a broad sense, the word art means any activity, based on knowledge,
practice, perception, imagination and intuition. In a strict sense, add
to the above lack of functionality (practice), knowledge, and
aesthetic.
Britannica Online defines art as "skill and imagination in the creation
of objects, the environment or aesthetic experiences can be shared"
(the use of skill and imagination in the creation of Aesthetic objects,
environments, or experiences That Can Be Shared with Others.)
Definition and evaluation of art has become especially problematic in
the early 20th century. Richard Waldheim distinguishes three modes of
access: realistic, whereby value is independent of any human point of
view, the Objectivist, whereby it is also an absolute, but dependent on
general human experience, and relativist position in which aesthetic
quality is not absolute, but depends on and varies with different
individuals of the human experience. An object can be characterized
according to intent, or lack thereof, of its creator, whatever the
purpose or function of. For example, a cup that can be used as a simple
container object can be considered art if intended solely
aesthetic. Also, a painting may be deemed craft (so no work of art), is
a mass product.
Nature of art has been described by Richard Waldheim as "one of the
most elusive terms (which avoids) the traditional problems of human
culture" (one of the most elusive of the traditional problems of human
culture). It was defined as a vehicle for expression or communication
of emotions and ideas, a means for exploring and appreciating formal
elements for himself, and as mimesis or representation. Leo Tolstoy
identified art as an indirect means of communicating between people.
Benedetto Croce and RG Collingwood advanced the idealist view that art
expresses emotions, and that the artwork therefore essentially exists
in the mind of the creator.
Art theory is rooted in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant and was
developed in the 20th century. Art as mimesis has deep roots in the
philosophy of Aristotle.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
